2016 League Shoot – First Round

The glorious Smurf Army was more like a platoon, with several members unable to make the event giving such dodgy excuses are: training for the Invictus Games, fishing in the USA and moving house; I ask you, no commitment!

For those who have never visited Bramcote, suffice it to say that it’s a little on the “open” side, so somewhat windy to say the least.  The judges gazebo was worse for wear after a small gust decided to snap one of the metal legs, which didn’t put Mario in a good mood (fortunately this was after lunch).

Apart from the weather, there was nothing exciting to report (the most existing thing being the inordinately long queue for the toilets which were just behind our tent.  Apparently you need to get there at six in the morning to get a spot on the shooting line.

Adeel put in a good score of 770 ish (I forget, it was last week), with the rest of us trailing under 700.  With Archers excuse number 234 (wind) being touted as the main reason for the rubbish scores.

The Competition also formed part of the 60th Oregon Challenge and I’m reliably informed that those competitors who’s scores count towards the team totals will receive a commemorative badge

The next League shoot is 12th June at Sherwood Archers, so we need a big turn out with even bigger scores to retain the Team trophy for this year.  Unfortunately the results only go up to 2012, but I’m sure we won the Senior Recurve team last year.
